My beautiful and utterly amazing nieces! A few weeks ago we took a train ride down to New Orleans for Ethan’s spring break and as an early graduation gift for Ciera and a belated 21st birthday present for Cecillia, we had them meet us out there. I felt like the “cool” aunt when they said they would love to join us. Really, a teenager and a 21 year old wants to come hang with us for 5 days – awesome! We all had an amazing time and ate some seriously delicious food. You can’t tell by looking at them, but these girls can EAT. I thought I had a good appetite, but they put me to shame. One night we gorged ourselves on some ridiculously amazing seafood boil. I’m talking about 6 pounds of crawfish, 2 pounds of shrimp, another 2 pounds of Alaskan crab and probably another pound or so of corn and potatoes. Enough food to feed 6 grown men, well the four of us managed to polish it off. Thank goodness Ethan and Owen weren’t into it, there definitely wouldn’t have been enough if that was the case.
I am so proud of these girls. I really can’t say that enough. Beautiful Cecillia, the older sister, a bit more serious and thought-out in her decisions and behaviors. The nurturer, leader and all around go-getter, she is finishing up her junior year at UCF with a major in Marketing and Creative Writing. And Ciera, beautiful Ciera, a bit more carefree and free spirited. A go-with-the-flow kind of girl. The one girl who everyone wants as their best-friend. She is wrapping up her senior year of high school and will be going to college for nursing. When I think of my nieces, I just smile. Their sisterly bond is beyond what I can describe with words. And the love and admiration they have for one another is something that I, as a mother hope my boys will one day evolve into.
Enjoy the quick senior session and urban session we had in Nawlins’
